Pancakes
When we want a quick, easy breakfast we usually choose these pancakes. We also always have the ingredients in the pantry so that helps.
Making pancakes from scratch is easier than you think!
I'm not going to go on and on about why these are the best pancakes, because let's face it, you're going to just scroll past it all anyway...ain't nobody got time for that! I think once you try them, you'll completely agree!
Let's make some pancakes! (yields 5)

Ingredients:

1 cup flour
3 tsp. baking powder
1/4 tsp. salt
1 cup milk
1 egg
Butter or Margarine for pan

Instructions:

-
Preheat frying pan over medium heat (or griddle to 350F).
-
While the pan is heating up, whisk together the dry ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
-
Add milk and egg to the dry ingredients and mix just until the batter is no longer lumpy.
-
Add butter or margarine to pan and coat bottom.
-
Add 1/2 cup of the batter to the middle on the pan.
-
Once bubbles start to form and break on the surface of the pancake, and the bottom is golden brown, it's time to flip.
-
Cook until the other side of the pancake is golden brown.
-
Repeat until all the batter is used up.
-
Add your favourite toppings and enjoy!
Perfect Add-ins/Add-ons:

For sweeter pancakes, add in some chocolate chips.

Birthday cake (my kids love these), add sprinkles to the batter before cooking or add whipped cream as a topping and throw some sprinkles on top for a colourful surprise.

Top with whipped cream and sliced strawberries. This is my daughter's favourite way to enjoy her pancakes.

Real maple syrup. I'm Canadian and in my opinion, there's no better topping for a pancake. We stroll out to the local sugar woods and buy local as often as possible. Not only is this one of my favourite Spring time outings, I get to enjoy the sweet, fresh maple syrup for a long time.

Nutella because let's face it...why not?
